Our guest today is Jay McBain

Jay has been with Forrester for 3 years and in the channel for 27 years. He started with IBM and Lenovo for 17 then went to AutoTask. He and AutoTask Founder Bob Gockart then built a software company doing some channel AI and living the “startup life.” He says he learned so much about the channel and it’s different angles so from there, he took that into a more analytical view of the channel because he consumes so much:

  • 54 magazines/day
  • 64 podcasts on his road bike
  • 150 events
  • 24 associations
  • Big vendor communities
  • Big distributor communities
  • 99 LinkedIn groups and so on

Jay actually gets paid to consume it all and tries to roll it up into determining the future of the next 18 months. Today, he shares how some of this data applies directly to SMB IT Service Providers.
