Jack and the Beanstalk – Abbott and Costello – 1952

Jack and the Beanstalk is Abbott and Costello’s first color film. Universal Studios refused to produce the mvie in color, so Abbott and Costello produced it as an independent film They had an agreement with Universal that they could make one independent film per year. Luckily for them, they exercised that right with this film, which became extremely popular.

The basic story is is the old tale of Jack, who trades the family cow for some magic beans. His mother is furious and throws the beans away, but they grow into a giant beanstalk. Jack climbs the beanstalk to challenge a giant, save a princess, and free the goose that lays golden eggs. All very funny stuff from Abbott and Costello.

Bonus note: Mel Blanc provides the voice for the Farm Animals.
